With today being St. Patrick’s Day, I thought a lighter fare is warranted to keep the masses interested in-between their sips of Guinness. Google Search results… still King, of course. By how much? It will leave you wondering, why do the rest bother (psssst… $$$$).
We know the big three are Google, Bing and Yahoo. Of course that would mean we’re back in 2015! Last year saw a big shift in how people view the web. Yahoo has pulled ahead of Bing, and BOTH have moved down a few notches.
According to Jumpshot, Mobile & Desktop results has Google of course is still number one with just over 59% of all worldwide searches performed, but Google Images is number two now with almost 27%. Then a big drop-off happens. YouTube comes next with just 4%. Yahoo (2.5%) & Bing (2.25%) move down to 4 & 5 respectively. For Bing, that was down 3 notches. According to comScore, in 2015 Bing had a 33% search share.
The Clear Winner Is?
Did anyone guess something other than Google? Even before you saw the worldwide numbers? 🙂
If you add in all of Google’s properties (Google, Images, YouTube, Maps, News) they own 92% of all searches (Jumpshot 2016), while everyone else gets to split 8% between 5 search methods. Click on the graph to the right and see what is what, and then the comScore numbers for desktop results below. How important does this make mobile? VERY!
The Big 3 used to be Google, Bing & Yahoo.
Now it is Google, Google, Google, and you can see what that summons today! Happy St Patrick’s Day!
